The St. Peters Winter Shelter — Closed for the Season

Closed for the season.

The St. Peters Temporary Winter Shelter is a shelter based at the St. Peters Roman Catholic Church at 301 Machleary street in Nanaimo

What is the shelter?

This shelter links those experiencing homelessness to a safe sheltering option during the winter weather. The Winter Shelter operates through the winter months November 1st – April 1st. Shelter users are able to access the shelter every night. Meals are also provided.

This winter shelter is made possible through funding from BC Housing.

NFLA Partnership Announcement

NFLA is proud to partner with Just Thrift, a locally owned thrift shop dedicated to supporting our community. Through this collaboration, NFLA clients in Nanaimo who are seeking housing, newly housed, or in need of essential items can receive free, no‑cost items (through our agency programs only) with this partnership.

Donations for NFLA programs — including shelters — can be dropped off during donation hours Tuesday to Saturday 10 – 3 at Unit #1, 4906 Wellington Rd.

Your support matters. If you are planning a drop off at a thrift shop please consider Just Thrift as that donation point. Together, we can help ensure that every individual has what they need to feel safe, supported, and at home.”

The best solution to homelessness is permanent housing with supports, however, the winter shelter ensures protection from the cold, a safe and clean space to sleep, and access to much needed resources.
